Who are you when everything you've built your identity upon falls apart?
We spend our lives searching for purpose and belonging in careers, relationships, achievements, experiences, and carefully crafted versions of ourselves. For a moment, these things make us feel seen, secure, and alive. But when they inevitably fail us, we're left in the darkness, wondering if we ever truly knew who we were to begin with.
This short story explores the journey to the end of self—the cave we all find ourselves in when our distractions lose their power and our false identities can no longer sustain us. Yet even in the darkness, a gentle invitation remains:
"Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
Through themes of loss, surrender, redemption, and grace, this story points to the One who never intended for us to find ourselves in this world, but to find our true identity in Him. Because freedom begins where self-seeking ends, and the answer to the question, "Who am I really?" can only be found in the light of Jesus Christ.
